I’ve never liked running. Never had any interest in it at all. I can honestly say I’ve never serious run. Up until now!
I didn’t want a New Years Resolution because too often that connotes that it will be abandoned before spring arrived! So I committed to going to the gym at least twice a week since early December. So far so good! For the first time in my life, I can run at a decent pace for more than 5 minutes without being consumed by horrible pains, shortness of breath and other embarrassing things an unhealthy body does. I’ve never been “fat”… but I do like the idea of toning up myself and being stronger. Going to keep up with this. Don’t really have a set goal. Just want to feel and look better.
My buddy Aaron has also returned to the gym and approached me about possibly running our first marathons. I hesitated but asked him to give me some more details before I made my decision.
100km.
Through the Rocky Mountains.
Ummmm… Don’t think there is anyway I can do that for my first marathon. Baby me with a 5km Run for a Cure or Walk for MS first!
But if growing up in the late 80′s and early 90′s has taught me anything, I’m sure I’ll be okay as long as I keep slamming the A + B buttons as fast as I can.

I find that if you have a goal to run for, you’ll be amazed with what your body can achieve. Good luck on whatever race you choose. Run for reason and not what others tell ya.
